AUGUST ART COLLECTIVE :: 004 "Pain & Itch" featuring Xiaoyue Pu

Posted on

August Art Collective : 004 returns this January with Vogue Italia featured gallery artist & photographer Xiaoyue Pu’s PAIN AND ITCH. The term Tòng Yǎng (痛痒) literally means the sensational feeling of pain and itch in Chinese but often is used to refer sufferings, difficulty, importance and consequence in broader contexts.

PAIN AND ITCH in the artist’s words: “In this performative photo project PAIN AND ITCH, I traced the origin of connection and separation in my life back to my mother’s womb in an attempt to understand conflicted emotions in interpersonal relationships. As the calligraphy ink drew its memory on my skin, an intimate conversation of commitment, expectation as well as (in)dependence has begun meditatively in the context of maturity, femininity, romance and sexuality."

August looks forward to sharing the unexampled works with our greater artistic community. Join us for our formal meet & greet with the artist to get the deep dive and hear their thoughts on the overall collection, this coming Saturday 01.16.2021 beginning at 12pm.
