That day was a little rainy but we went ahead and had an intimate session nonetheless. Now, the mix is available for those who weren't able to make it.
]]>The two will be playing a b2b set from 6:30 - 8:00PM full of lush garage, soulful house, and deep cut melodic techno. Stop in to August to start your night off right with music, dancing, and good vibrations.
]]>Live music and events have been incredibly important to us since day 1. Beyond fashion, the Madison culture scene including music, art, and learning have all provided ways for us to connect with our community. Unfortunately, last year the pandemic shut that down and kept us from connecting with our community in person and we missed that energy greatly.
However, on June 19th 2021, we welcomed back live music to August, in the form of a 1.5 hour live DJ set by our friend Max Arneson (unnoun). This was the first of a monthly series, titled "Auxiliary" where on the 3rd Saturday of every month we will have a live set from one of the DJs in our community. Stay tuned for the next set and for more live events to come, for now, listen to Max's set below.

This initiative is simple; you pick up the featured book at August, and you drop off a book to share with others. We hope that you will have a conversation with us about how the book you’re dropping off impacted you and what you gained from it so that we can share those thoughts with the next knowledge seeker.
The theme we are promoting will be centered around activism, civic history, civil rights, increasing ones cultural intellect as it relates to Black culture, history and sociology. Please keep these themes mind when you are swapping out books.
Our initial book feature will be James Baldwin's iconic essay series The Fire Next Time. The Fire Next Time is a 1963 non-fiction book that contains two essays: "My Dungeon Shook — Letter to my Nephew on the One Hundredth Anniversary of the Emancipation" and "Down at the Cross — Letter from a Region of My Mind". The first essay, written in the form of a letter to Baldwin's 14-year-old nephew, discusses the central role of race in American history. The second essay, which takes up the majority of the book, deals with the relations between race and religion, focusing in particular on Baldwin's experiences with the Christian church as a youth, as well as the Islamic ideas of others in Harlem.
The bonus is, those who participate in E1T1 and planned on shopping with us that day will receive an offer of 15% off your purchase!
Only the daily pursuit of knowledge through literature and study will bring us all together as a more altruistic and empathetic community, so please stop in with a book special to you today.

Stuck inside? Want to have some fun?? Let your inner child out and grab your markers, colored pencils, crayons and paint!
Stefan Matioc is an artist from Madison, WI known for his free-flowing-line drawing style that takes many forms: neons, murals, prints, and apparel.
Stefan moved to the east side of Madison in 2014 and worked at Madison based ad & design shop, Planet Propaganda. In this time he moved his art from doodling in bars and pasting stickers on the isthmus to commissioned walls. He began to shift focus from design and animation to personal artwork sales when he moved to Mexico City in 2017 - where he continued to grow and spread his art. Stefan is very grateful for the businesses and people in Madison who have been a support and catalyst for his art.
His murals in Madison can be found on the side of The Sylvee music venue - in the basement cocktail lounge of Lucille - Good Style Shop on E. Johnson - Banzo Shuk on Willy - The Robinia Courtyard - and Next Door Brewery on Atwood Ave. He will return to the USA in 2020 and plans to find a new home and studio.
