AUGUST AUX STF :: 001 Al’s Picks feat. The Grateful Dead

Posted on

Our continued efforts to share both legendary and undiscovered music via our AUGUST AUX banner has manifested in a new series titled "AUGUST AUX STF" now on Spotify. Our premier staff selection is by our store manager Alex Hysel who shares his Dead Head appetite with us for AUGUST AUX STF :: 001 Al’s Picks Vol. 1.

The story of the Grateful Dead is far too long and twisted to tell here, but the connection between the Dead and August is a good place to start. Icons of the band have been featured on items in the store from Pleasures, and of course, Online Ceramics.

The Grateful Dead can be hard to get into, especially the live shows because there are simply too many to count. Taking inspiration from Dick’s Picks, a series of live albums released by the dead between 1993 and 2005, August has put together an introduction to essential live songs performed by the band over 20+ years, curated by our store manager, Alex Hysel.

Starting with the first live show Alex listened to, the near-universally lauded Cornell '77 show, and continuing mostly chronologically over 20+ years of live Dead shows, the collection concludes with three selections from the Dead & Company’s June 22, 2018 performance at Alpine Valley, East Troy, WI.

More playlists from our staff to come!
