AUGUST AUX :: 035 INTRO TO DUB PART 1 [MODERN TECHNO/HOUSE]

Dub techno came to its height in the early '90s, the two producers given main credit for its founding being Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, who formed the group Basic Channel. They infused the likes of King Tubby and "Key Scratch" Perry into minimal Robert Hood-style techno to create a sound that influences how techno is produced to this day - and to a lesser but still notable extent House and Ambient. Although the DJs are no longer active, their legacy is carried around the world.

For our latest August Aux mix, resident August DJ Sam Wallner delivers an addictive first entry to our "Intro to Dub" series, focusing on the new style of dub and techno that has sprung up in recent years, drawing heavy influence from dub and reggae icons from the '60s to '80s, and featuring the likes of Idealist, Altone, and more.
